Task 6 scence design

The gate : Because 劉備 is the keeper of the final stage, this somehow terrifying gate will make a badass atomosphere, which is suitable for the final boss, 劉備, for this scence. And, in front of this city gate, 劉備 has been selling straw sandals and waiting for 雲長's return.

The folding screen: It is an object added as a Chinese element.

G: 黑色 is the most expensive,最貴. So can you figure out the order?

H: Left is the cheapest. And the most expensive will be the right.

Task 6 game design

I hope to help international students to improve listening ability through some logic games. This game is going to push their Chinese listening ability to a higher level, because they need to memorize the sentences they heard in order to play the game. For example, there would be three objects to which three pictures of sandals are attached. Then, I would say, “ 紅色比藍色貴”, another is, “ 黑色最貴” . Their mission is to put those objects into a logical order.

Straw sandals are what 劉備 sold when he was young. So, by selling theses sandals, I hope this character, 劉備,  can make an apeal to his brother 關雲長: I'm still still you big brother when we were young.

Task 4 Scene Design

1. Representing the team, I had build the entire flowing platform so that the 關雲長 could be interested with this creative design and also be able to play three games in this limited area.

Gate Design

1. I choose to set up my gate here because there is already a peach tree that connected to the event 桃園三結義 which my game implied with.

2. "The Tiger Tank", on the left hand side of the photo underneath, I have placed this unique creation of 蜀國 by 孔明 in the book "Romance of Three Kingdom", "The Tiger Tank" is a portable wooden tank that roars out fire during fight. Most of the boys learn the history of the Three kingdoms through playing computer games. "The Tiger Tank" is something that you think of 蜀國 if you ever played the game and it helps in entertaining the gamers.

3. I also placed some racks there that are used for displaying weapons, some ancient people used it to represent the power of themselves and it cost me nothing for it.

The Story is that when Yun goes back to the country of 蜀 he meets KM and KM wants Yun to help him check the inventories in order to run some business.

Game: There are some Chinese items on the ground and Yun has to move the items which KM needs for him.

The items are including the lantern, the ax, the chopsticks, the knife and the teapot.

It is a very famous house. (from 三顧茅廬) And the special thing of this house is that you can take a shower in it. 

Incense burner

It is an important item in Chinese history in order to reveal respect for 
ancestors.

Gate one:

After 關雲長 arrives at the first gate guarded by me as 張飛,  關雲長 will be looking at the portraits of 劉備, 關雲長 and 張飛, then he has to categorized the three men by typing out at least three roman spelling of the relative Chinese words that 關雲長 come up to describe the three portraits. For example he sees the portraits of 劉備, 關雲長 and 張飛, he types out the roman spelling of 「男人」「鬍子」and 「酒」, he then could moved to the next level.

And the purpose of the game is to lead the three player 關雲長 into the storyline and also train their reaction visually and literally.

The Notecards

To let the international students know the lyrics of the short ballad of Cao Cao, I made a notecard with lyrics of the poem. In Second Life, notecards are like a email box which can deliver detailed information, and also send and receive long messages that won't fit in a single instant message. To make it clearly, I should put the real meaning of the poem in next activity.

Besides, to allow the three participants to know the location of three kingdoms, I also chose the notecard to deliver the picture of the map. In the map, there is the coordinates of Wei, Shu and Wu and thier relative location. However, it is still confusing for the beginners to use coordinates to go to the destination, thus, I will add the instruction to tell them how to use the world map next time.
