Task 9 Game Design

　　Originally, I want to play the game like Big Wind Blow. We decided to build some cubes, and assign who should take which cube. For example, the one has ears attached in his or her outfit should sit on the red cube. After everyone gets the seat, they would form a heart shape while looking down in the air.

However, this idea is not really suitable for the last task. We keep the mode of storytelling relay. In the first gameplay, most of the players don’t know what to do due to the lack of clear directions. To let them get into the situation and control the plot of the ending story, we built a circle of cube. Three of them are colored and separated with other three white cubes. This design could make sure that the story plot would follow a certain path and ensure that we don’t waste too much time on thinking plots.

The following are lines of task 9.

NH: OK, I will start the story with three sentences, and the one on my left should say another three sentences to continue the story, is everybody ready? OK, then we can start from 外生1, what happened after Zhou Yu and Little Chao get married?

外生1: ---------

ZY: However, after two years marriage, Sun Ce(孫策), husband of  Little Chao's sister is assassinated by 曹操's comrade. Little Chao is worried about that Zhou Yu may suffer from the same fate, keep asking him not to go to the field.

外生2: ---------

LC: Though quarreling over whether he should go to the war many times,  Zhou Yu still join Battle of Redcliff.(赤壁之戰) All Little Chao can do is to wait in their empty house. She thinks of the song Zhou Yu used for proposal and sings it very often.

NH: Now 外生3, could you sing that song and continue our story?

外生3: --------

NH: The battle of Redcliff ends; fortunately, Zhou Yu is alive. On his way to home, he gets infected by a disease and dies. His corpses is sent home and Little Chao is infected and dies too. They are buried in a forest together. Amazingly, many butterflies gather on their graves, and gently files away with a light spinning on the sky. That's a wonderful story, thank you for your help to finish it.

   In my part, I have designed the scene of our place which is in the forest.

              And actually, we adopt the fairy tales of “beauty and beast”, and hottie is demon who transformed zhouyu into fox appearance. And as the game designers, we need to design a game to figure out the place where zhouyu is. And this place need not only be safe to prevent zhouyu being found out but also be convenient to reach. As a result, we choose the big bell tower as the ideal place.

And I make a dynamic diary which is belonged to Hottie, and I also made up a short diary which contain the clues and hints which can know where Zhouyu is.
And the diary also was adopted from the story of Cinderella, I think the transformation of NH appearance is magic and romance. And the diary also record NH's romantic love story with her ex. And it can also tell that why NH want to break relationship between little chao and Zhouyu for she cannot get love from her ex so she want little chao neither.

Furthermore, I conceived the answer is the big bell tower where is near the place of diary and those who are not familiar with the area cannot figure out the tower, so the tower is the best point and safest place for us to hide zhouyu. And after combining the words behind those three “TWIX”, we can get three words---big bell tower, where ZY is.

And I design my appearance with a torch and a lantern on hair which can lead them to the tower. And such orange and pink dress may meet the demand of the most beautiful woman.

The Story is that when Yun goes back to the country of 蜀 he meets KM and KM is playing the chess game.

Game: Jumping over the peg

KM says that he always face different kinds of barriers which are just like these pegs on the board. He need to overcome all the obstacles and make our master succeed. Therefore, he always sit in front of the chess board and think how to make these pegs remain with the least amount. As a loyal servant, he have no choice but to think and scheme the plan for master’s success. He usually gain his wisdom by playing the chess game. 

So he make Yun show the wisdom by playing this chess game.  

Game rule: 

The goal is to remove pegs from the board by jumping over each peg with another peg; this removes the "jumped" peg. Click and drag with the mouse to move a peg. Only horizontal and vertical jumps are allowed. The game is over when no more jumps are possible. You win the game by removing all the pegs except one from the board. A perfect game would leave one peg in the center position.

I make this yellow chess board with black pegs.

ZY: Would you marry me?

LC: Yes, I do!

NH: OK, I will keep my word. Let's get your appearance back.

(Fires ZY, ZY changes his outfit and returns with a look of human)

LC: (crying with joy)

NH: I want to write a story about our adventure in my diary! Can you help me with that? Over a casual chat, we will create our own storytelling relay to discuss what happened after Zhou Yu and Little Chao get married. We can sit on the cubes over there(帶他們去坐在椅子上) Notice that you can only sit on the colored cube!

Task 6 game design

I hope to help international students to improve listening ability through some logic games. This game is going to push their Chinese listening ability to a higher level, because they need to memorize the sentences they heard in order to play the game. For example, there would be three objects to which three pictures of sandals are attached. Then, I would say, “ 紅色比藍色貴”, another is, “ 黑色最貴” . Their mission is to put those objects into a logical order.

Straw sandals are what 劉備 sold when he was young. So, by selling theses sandals, I hope this character, 劉備,  can make an apeal to his brother 關雲長: I'm still still you big brother when we were young.

The Story is that when Yun goes back to the country of 蜀 he meets KM and KM wants Yun to help him check the inventories in order to run some business.

Game: There are some Chinese items on the ground and Yun has to move the items which KM needs for him.

The items are including the lantern, the ax, the chopsticks, the knife and the teapot.

Leo as 張飛

Gate one:

After 關雲長 arrives at the first gate guarded by me as 張飛,  關雲長 will be looking at the portraits of 劉備, 關雲長 and 張飛, then he has to categorized the three men by typing out at least three roman spelling of the relative Chinese words that 關雲長 come up to describe the three portraits. For example he sees the portraits of 劉備, 關雲長 and 張飛, he types out the roman spelling of 「男人」「鬍子」and 「酒」, he then could moved to the next level.

And the purpose of the game is to lead the three player 關雲長 into the storyline and also train their reaction visually and literally.

Task 8 Game degign

After everybody knows the clues in the diary, they come to find ZY. ZY is found, and LC wants to make up their love relationship, but with the monster appearance, ZY is afraid. NH laughs, and challenges ZY to propose to LC. ZY needs others helping.

Script:

LC: Oh How could you show everybody in this appearance? Where's my handsome husband?

ZY: Don't say that anymore. We cannot go back to where we used to be.

NH: Yes, you can't. So, Zhou Yu, when will you marry me?

ZY: I won't marry you! Little Chao is my sublime and only love.

NH: Then, why don't you propose to her?

ZY: I will, but I need some help.

NH: Guess no one would marry to an ugly animal. If there's one, I will retransform you into human!

ZH: Guan Yun Chang, can you help me to sing a song to Little Chao? I believe once she heard the song, she will marry me!

Rules: everybody hears ZY sing once, and repeat with him again.

ZH and Guan Yun Chang sing Would you marry me today together.

After that, LC will agree to marry ZY and  NH would transform ZY into human. 

NH would use the spell and speak some magic language on the stage, and ZY will become human. 

task 7- Game Design

Zhou Yu (周瑜) intruded in a forbidden forest and was transformed into a monster  by the nightmare Hottie, the fox demon. In order to help zhouyu to retransform back to human appearance, they need to figure out the clues concealed in the diary. And the diary contains the name of my favorite chocolate and the hints was the words behind chocolate name—TWIX, after combining the words, we can know where zhouyu hided in.

DIARY:

We fall in love in a twix big dancing ball. I need to escape when the 12 o'clock twix bell rings or you will see my fox appearance. The memory of dating with you in the twix tower cannot be removed forever.

After reading diary and combining the words behind TWIX, we can get the name of place where Zhouyu was hided ----big bell tower.

Task3- Game design

Since the first two games and plots are more serious, the third task is funnier. Nobody is a soldier under Yuan Shao. As his name, he is just an unimportant character compared to Chao Chao and Chung Liao. 

Old game:

This game is called carrot squats (蘿蔔蹲). It’s a combination of number and gesture. The rule is this: There are four players including me. We are going to say the number from1~4. But, two people cannot say the same number at the same time. If two or more people say it at the same time, they lose the game. Also, when saying the number, they have to do a gesture at the same time. Press F2, F4, F8, F9, F11, F12 to do a gesture. They can do whatever movements they like. If one of them forgets to do a movement when saying the number, they lose. So two points: 1. Do not say the same number. 2. Do a gesture.

New game:

Because I find the former game is hard to play in SL. I change the entire game. This game is a quiz. After I do a string of gestures, the foreigner students need to know which buttons did I press. I will introduce the buttons to them first. So they may know press F2, F4, F8, F9, F11, F12 can do what gestures. After that, the game start. I will do  six movements in a row. They have three chances to guess. After they answer correctly, they can go to next kingdom.

Task2- Game design

          The task 2: Treasure hunt is designed for searching tools for the general soldier who is named Chung Liao. He prepares to attack the enemy and needs soldiers (players) to find out the necessary objects. At the beginning, he introduce himself and the relationship between Cao Cao. 

"Our enemy is right across the river. Ah…our great leader, Cao Cao, is my savior, it was him that taught me how to become a respectful man. My achievement should be contribute to him. So, now it my chance to show my appreciation, and to help him win this war!

 The clues of things are described by Chung Liao and as follow:

“the first one help me see farer and clearer (glasses); the second one can attack the enemy (sword); the third one protect my head (helmet)”.

      These things are hid in Cao Cao’s camp. After they find out, they should take them back to Chung Liao. Then. their mission is complete. Chung Liao will tell them where the enemy is, that is, the next task.

Group 2 蜀國/ Game

How smart are you?

The goal of this game is that training foreign students to understand the logic and order when they learning Chinese.

The Story is that when 關羽 wants to leave the country of Cao he needs to answer some questions from  諸葛亮 who is full if wisdom. 諸葛亮: If you are not smart enough you cannot have ability to face the difficulties and challenges afterward. 雲長: How can i prove my intelligence? 諸葛亮: You have to answer all the questions from me and i will believe that you have enough wisdom.

Game: There are some sentences in Chinese and the entire sentences are broken into several parts and then the foreign students have to arrange the correct order of the sentences. Besides, when they finish the arrangement they have to read the sentence in Chinese. After the foreign students finish the task from 諸葛亮, they have enough wisdom to face another challenge.

Finally, 關羽 arrived at the final gate, and his big brother, 劉備，is right in front of him.

劉備(hellgunner): 雲長, is that  you? I have been beliving you would come back to my side once again. Now you are…… Wait a minute, how can I know you are my brother,雲長? Maybe you are just an assassin of 曹操 that disguise as him!! Hmmmm…. If you want me to trust you, you have to play a game and clear it  because 雲長 is very smart!! I would say a sentecne  that describe the prices and colors of  straw sandals, and you have to put the objects that symbols each straw sandal in different colors and prices into logical order. Only by completing the game can you show me you are really 雲長. Let the game begins!

We hope to help international students to improve listening ability through some logic games. For example, three voice records would be attached to the objects with different colors, one is,  for example, “ 包子最便宜”, another is, “ 咖啡六十塊”, and the other is “蛋糕一百塊”. When they click the objects, they would be able to hear the voice records, and their mission is to put those objects into a logical order

Here you are. Come fight with me.

My name is nobody. I am the general of YUAN,SHAO. I guard this barn.

If you want to beat me you must win the game.

This game is called One after One!

The rule is this:
All three of you are going to play the game with me. We are going to say the
number from 1~4. The first person says 1. Next person say 2. Next say 3. And
the last person says 4. However, two people cannot say the same number at the
same time. If two or more people say at the same time, you lose the game. Also,
when saying the number, you have to do a movement at the same time. You can press F2, F4, F8, F9, F11, F12. You can do whatever movements you want. If you forget to do a movement, you lose the game as well. So two points: 1. Do not say the same number. 2. Do a movement.

If you lose the game, you need to start all over again until you
win. Okay?

Storyline:

After staying at 魏 for almost a year and a half, 關雲長 still resisting 曹操 for his reward of helping 魏 defeat the power of 袁紹, 關雲長 has been secretly planning to leave 魏 once he find his big brother 劉備, and one day he is informed by the spy he sent that 劉備 is somewhere near him, so he quickly run away, and the three gate standing in front of him is the last obstacles between him and his brothers.

SL Proposal

Amme1205:周瑜; Wednesday6732:小喬; Booooonnie:大喬

Abstract: 周瑜 stops 關雲長’s leaving after the game of the second group. When 關雲長sees 大喬&小喬, he wants to bring them back to his brother. But these beauties are really hard to satisfied.

They ask 關雲長 to distinguish 大喬and小喬because they look alike. To prove that 關雲長has this ability to tell one from the other, they give him two pictures which have seven differences between them. (找碴) 

He wins the game but 小喬and大喬are unwilling to go with him because they are not fully prepared.

They ask him to look for something they need in a forest and a graveyard. However, they don't say it 

directly. They only give him some hints about the stuff. (猜物品)

Now 關雲長 has all the things they need, all he needs to do now is to find it out.(找東西)
